OBJECTIVES

 

There are 16 Michelin Star restaurants in Copenhagen. An exponential trend in searching culture based on the “Mediterranean diet” , which is evident in the well established behavior for over a decade, within the high social level of Danish consumers which in addition of pleasure at the table, considers the health issues with a healthy nutritional education.

 

The CIOOA, is an International Olive Oil Competition that aims to reward in COPENHAGEN the extra virgin olive oils, organic olive oils and monocultivar excellences of every country, stimulating and publicizing the culture of the “Mediterranean diet” and its main ingredient, the oil from olives, in restaurant kitchens and in private homes, promoting the various gastronomic specificity , through appropriate actions with public and private institutions, professional traders, trading and distribution organizations, as well as with private consumers.

 

The competitions is sponsored by a consortium of Danish and international private and public groups and have led by Ideal Marketing Solutions, Mr. Greg Peter Patrikios, Denmark for the organization and Greenup Ltd , Dr Gino Celletti, Italy for the technical and scientific aspects, according to international regulations EC 2568/91, EC 640/2008 and more.

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION 

The competition is open to all extra virgin olive oils & bio-organic olive oils produced in the last campaign and presented by individual producers, consortium’s, traders companies which have, within the specified time, a regular application, provided that they produce for each type submitted sample a uniform batch by a minimum of 1000 kg at least. A chemical analysis, and certified that olive oil is produced by the original producer. 4 x 500ml bottles will need to be sent to the competition for judging. 

CONVENTIONAL OLIVE OIL CATEGORIES

The Conventional Extra Virgin and Monocultivar Olive Oils are divided into three categories:

 

Delicate Fruity ( olfactory light intensity , slightly bitter and soft spicy)
Medium Fruity ( olfactory medium intensity, medium bitter and spicy )
Intense Fruity ( intense olfactory, medium or high bitter and spicy)
Certificates of Merit to all samples which realize a median score > 8,00

ORGANIC OLIVE OIL CATEGORIES

The Organic Extra Virgin and Monocultivar Olive Oils are divided into three categories

HOW TO APPLY

Olive Oil testing will respect UE 640/08 rules
